These are classic relics from the Cold War.  Produced in Soviet Ukraine in the 1960s, these lamps heroically spotlight the Soviet fixation with dominance in the Space Race.  Kosmos was so close for the US and USSR, we both tried, we both had many firsts.  We both helped generations of children dream of a future among the stars.  

The base is made of metal and has an etched visual history of the Soviet Union and its space program.  

I have one of these at home.  (Actually, do you know that I have at least one of everything in the store at home? This store is just an expanded version of my bookcase / shelves of treasures—everything is endorsed by me and by my living with it on a daily business).  Anyway, every night I light this up, I am filled with a sense of joy and well being.  These aren't for everyone, but for those who like the unusual, this is a good place to start. 

The lamps feature original wiring and plug configurations, eg Soviet quality electric wiring.  Use caution and have an electrician give these a look over before using.  And if needed, purchase an optional converter which make it plug-in-able and power-able in the US.  Find them here.
